COVID-19 Update: UF reports zero positive cases out of 246 tests conducted

UF Health performed 691 tests with only two positive cases since May 25.

As students left campus and masks left faces, UF saw a 0% positivity rate Friday.

UF Health conducted a total of 246 COVID-19 tests Friday with zero positive cases — only two positive cases were reported out of 691 tests conducted for the week of May 25 to 31.

As of Tuesday, 53 students and 25 employees are quarantined or in isolation. The number of students quarantined or isolated decreased by 13% and employees by 26% since May 25.

Tuesday, UF Health Shands Hospital had 12% adult ICU availability, with 30 beds available, while North Regional Medical Center had 21% availability, with 10 beds available, according to the Agency for Health Care Administration of Florida

Adult ICU availability at UF Health Shands Hospital increased by six beds and North Florida Regional Medical Center by 1 bed since May 25.

Alachua County added 11 positive cases and 299 negative cases to its dashboard Monday with a 3.55% daily positive rate — slightly higher than the 3.5% two week positivity average.

Alachua County reported ten deaths over the month of May, bringing the total to 285 deaths.

A total of 130,122 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to Alachua County residents as of Monday. Of these vaccinations, 17,834 residents have received the first dose and 112,288 residents have received both doses according to the Alachua County COVID-19 dashboard

Between 70% and 80% of UF students have received a COVID-19 vaccine, according to a UF Health estimate in May.
