Two Gator women made podium appearances on the final day of competition Saturday at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Talitha Diggs finished runner up in the women’s 400 meter. The freshman logged a personal-best 50.74, the second-fastest time in school history. Taylor Manson raced alongside Diggs and finished eighth overall with a 51.55.
Gabrielle Wilkinson won bronze in the women’s 800. The Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, native shed 0.25 seconds off her seed time to close the race with a personal record of 2:01.20.
Florida finished seventh in Eugene, Oregon and tallied up 28 points.
Grace Stark placed fourth in the nation in the 100-meter hurdles after she strode to a 12.89 second time.
The women’s 4x400 relay bumped up to the second-fastest time in school history Saturday. Manson, Sterling Lester, Doneisha Anderson and Diggs ended in fourth overall, crossing the finish line at 3:26.31.
The Gators leave NCAA Outdoors with two national champions.
Joseph Fahnbulleh struck gold in the men’s 200 Friday with a 19.91 time, his first NCAA title.
Thomas Mardal capped off his collegiate career with his first outdoor national title. The senior thrower cast a 76.74 meter (251-9) throw to become the national hammer throw champion.
U.S. Olympic trials for USA Track & Field begin June 18.
