The number of UF students in quarantine or isolation decreased by nearly half since May 18.
The number of daily tests performed at UF also decreased. Testing rates dropped 30% from a daily average of 174 tests during the second week of May to 121 tests during the third.
UF’s daily COVID-19 tests have maintained a 1% positivity rate since Thursday.
As of May 25, 61 UF students and 34 UF employees are quarantined or in isolation. The weekly number of quarantined students decreased by 43% while employees increased by one person since May 18.
Alachua County’s daily positivity rate on May 24 was 1.17% lower than its two week positivity average — with 17 positive cases and 629 negative cases added to its dashboard resulting in a 2.63% daily positivity rate.
The county has reported zero COVID-19 related deaths since May 18.
UF Health Shands Hospital had 9% adult ICU availability, with 24 beds available, Tuesday; North Regional Medical Center had 19% availability, with 9 beds available, according to the Agency for Health Care Administration of Florida.
A total of 127,358 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to Alachua County residents as of May 24. Of these vaccinations, 19,836 residents have received the first dose and 107,522 residents have received both doses, according to the Alachua County COVID-19 dashboard.
Experts at UF Health estimate between 70% and 80% of UF students have been vaccinated.
