UF will no longer require masks on campus

As the university transitions to pre-pandemic operations, classroom and sports events will return to full-capacity

A university-wide email sent Tuesday announced a transition to pre-COVID operations on UF campus starting June 28.

The university will no longer require masks for students, faculty, staff and guests on UF property effective immediately. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and UF still recommend anyone who is not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 should wear a mask.

UF Health hospitals, as well as dentistry and veterinary facilities, will continue to require masks.

The email also detailed a return to pre-pandemic classroom capacity for Summer B and Fall semesters, and full in-person participation in athletics and other activities will resume.

Fan participation in stadiums and arenas will also return to full capacity after previously being capped at 50%, according to National Collegiate Athletic Association guidelines

The email stated the university will continue to promote COVID-19 vaccinations and monitor the pandemic.

UF spokesperson Cynthia Roldan declined to comment on the announcement or provide additional information at this time.
