The Gators hope to sweep the East Carolina Pirates at Donald R. Dizney Stadium Saturday.
Florida defeated the Pirates 20-9 Thursday at the ‘Diz. Midfielder Shannon Kavanagh and attacker Brianna Harris recorded a combined total of eight goals in the match.
The matchup marked the second meeting between the AAC opponents. UF holds a 2-0 record over ECU.
Florida is the projected AAC conference champion. The team boasts a 5-0 conference record while ECU sits at 1-4.
The championship is scheduled for May 6 and 8 at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.
Attacker Megan Pallozzi leads the Pirates with 31 points, 26 goals and five assists. The senior scored one goal off of four shots Thursday.
Attacker Megan Tryniski trails closely behind with 16 goals and 12 assists. Tryniski scored one goal in the first game of the series.
Kavanagh, the AAC Preseason Midfielder of the Year, faces adversity in the draw circle. East Carolina Midfielder Nicole Legar boasts 43 prominent wins, three of which were Thursday.
However, the orange and blue flaunt a roster full of all-American and all-conference weapons.
Kavanagh claims a 37-game goal streak, the second-longest in the program’s 12-year history. The Smithtown, New York, native is three games away from tying former Gator Shayna Pirreca’s record of 40 consecutive games.
Similarly, AAC Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year Sarah Reznick boasts a streak of her own. The Long Beach, New York, native has picked up a ground ball in 14 straight games which ties her for the fourth-longest stretch in program history.
Since 2011, Florida holds the third-most wins of any Division I women’s lacrosse program with 165. It looks to stay in the win column Saturday.
Opening draw is set for 11 a.m. at the ‘Diz. The game will stream on the Florida Gators’ YouTube channel.
