Between Jan. 26 and Monday, 36 Santa Fe College students tested positive for COVID-19.
In addition to the 36 students, one professor tested positive, according to a report from Santa Fe spokesperson Jay Anderson. The college’s number of reported positive cases now totals 643 since March.
Three students may have been infected while on campus, but this did not result in any additional exposures, according to the report. A total of 106 positive individuals could have been on campus since March.
Using the numbers provided in the report, 57.81% of those who reported feeling sick to the college tested positive for COVID-19. This rate was calculated using the total number of opened cases, or the number of people who reported feeling sick regardless of whether the college’s contact tracing team reviewed the case, and the total number of reported positive cases.
Santa Fe College does not report the number of students or faculty tested weekly, only open cases and positive test results provided by students and faculty. Since March, 31.64% of those who reported feeling sick to the college tested positive for COVID-19.
Santa Fe does not require routine testing, but it is encouraged.
