The Gators haven’t tasted victory in the last two weeks. But with a new day, there’s a new opportunity for a win.
The Gators fell 1-3 to UCF Tuesday night. They now head south to Tampa to look for their first road win and break their three-game losing skid.
No. 22 Florida will play the unranked South Florida Bulls for their 55th meeting — the first time since January 2016. The Gators lead the all-time series 53-1, only registering a loss once on USF grounds.
No. 26 McCartney Kessler and Marlee Zein went through their first three matches with only losses and draws. But Tuesday brought something out of them: smiles.
After a decisive 6-2 finish, the smiles they shared seemed to be a sign of good things to come. The couple will continue their 2021 campaign against USF freshman Grace Schumacher and sophomore Margiet Timmermans.
But will Kessler, Zein, and senior Ida Jarlskog bring the Gators’ singles back to life?
For two dual matches in a row, Florida dropped two back-to-back dual matches with a 4-1 score. Its only points came from junior Sydney Berlin and freshman Sarah Dahlstrom.
USF currently stands at a 1-4 record, and their only win comes against Stetson. North Florida rolled the Bulls over in dual Monday with the lone win coming from junior Amelie Boy.
