The Florida women’s golf team completed its first tournament of the spring Tuesday and shot  a collective 8-over-par through 54 holes at the Moon Golf Invitational.

The Gators struggled mightily in the final round, shooting 10-over-par. Just one golfer, senior Addie Baggarly, shot even par on the day, while the rest were at least 2-over-par.

While the result wasn’t what Florida wanted, the tournament wasn’t a total loss. Sophomore Annabell Fuller finished in the top 10 individually, highlighted by her 67 in the second round. She shot 3-under-par for the tournament and came in 10th place.

Baggarly finished with Florida’s next best score and came into the clubhouse with a modest 2-over-par score. After shooting 2-over-par in the first round Sunday, she was able to string together back-to-back rounds of even-par 72.

Junior Jenny Kim finished her first meaningful tournament appearance since the 2018-2019 season in a tie for 55th. She shot 3-over-par Tuesday and finished the competition at 6-over-par.

Finally, sophomore Marina Escobar and redshirt senior Elis Esborn both tied for 67th after poor performances in the final round of play. The pair shot a total of 8-over-par.

Despite the lackluster finish, the Gators scored well in certain areas. They had the third best-average on par threes and averaged 3.12 strokes per hole.  Fuller finished with the second-best score on the short holes and averaged 2.92 strokes per par three.

Head coach Emily Glaser was proud of Fuller’s performance.

“Annabell (Fuller) was a bright spot for us,” Glaser said in a release. “She played some really great golf and showed why she is a world-class player. As a team, we just made too many mistakes on a scorable golf course.”

Florida won’t have time to dwell on their performance as the team returns to Gainesville to compete in the Gators Invitational. The tournament will run from Feb. 21 through Feb. 23.
