The junior collected her eighth-consecutive SEC Gymnast of the Week award Tuesday — marking her 12th recognition overall. Junior Nya Reed was recognized as Co-SEC Specialists of the Week for the first time, sharing the honor with Alabama’s Makarri Doggette.
Florida recorded its highest score in an opening meet against Auburn last Friday, defeating the Tigers 197.500 to 185.725. Thomas was spectacular for the No. 1 Gators, scoring a 39.75 to win her 15th all-around title at UF.
The York, Pennsylvania, native posted her best scores on the vault and beam exercise, recording a 9.975 and 9.95, respectively. Her scores in those specific events are the best in the country, per Road to Nationals.
Reed only competed in two rotations at Auburn, but she made the most out of them. She tallied a 9.90 on vault and a 9.925 on floor. Her scores are tied for third and fourth best in the nation.
Florida returns to Gainesville for its first top-10 matchup of the season against Georgia at 6:45 p.m. Friday in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center and can be streamed on SEC Network+.
