Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a traffic homicide after one person died Tuesday evening in a crash involving three cars in Gainesville.
At about 5:30 p.m., at least one FHP officer arrived at the scene of the crash at 1100 SW Archer Road, FHP spokesperson Lt. Patrick Riordan said.
The number of people involved in the crash is unknown, Riordan said. At least one other person was in critical condition at UF Health Shands Hospital on Tuesday evening.
A 2001 Green GMC Pickup driven by a white male, a 2000 White Ford Pickup also driven by a white male and a 2017 White Acura driven by a white female were involved in the crash, Riordan said.
The sequence of events leading up to the crash and after are unknown at this time, Riordan said. FHP closed both lanes of traffic until about 9:44 p.m. to investigate the traffic homicide. These types of investigations take about 60 to 90 days, he added.
If anyone has more information about the crash, they can contact Riordan at 386-754-6283.
