As some of you may have noticed, The Alligator has not had a very active opinions section these past couple of months as editors worked to reformulate how the space could best serve the community we serve.
Hello world! My name is Zachariah Chou and I am thrilled to be serving as The Independent Florida Alligator’s Opinions Editor this Fall.
After taking into account feedback from our readers, we will be actively working to fill our section more with perspectives from community members as opposed to regular columnists. We hope that by doing so, we will be able to share perspectives not often heard and amplify the voices of those actively working to improve our community.
This coming semester is going to be a tough one. While there are countless uncertainties at play, I am certain that The Alligator’s opinions section will be here for you. The Alligator’s editorial board will also be weighing in from time to time on important issues affecting UF students and the Gainesville community at large in what’s bound to be a historic semester.
