The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after finding a body less than half a mile from Williston Road.

Alachua County deputies were notified Friday evening of an unresponsive person in a wooded area near 5600 SW 35th Drive. Upon arriving, deputies found the body of 58-year-old Troy L. Brigman inside a tent, according to an ACSO Facebook post.

Brigman was seen earlier Friday exiting a Walmart, the post read. It included a surveillance photo of Brigman wearing jeans and a blue Florida Gators shirt. His body was found nine hours later.

Art Forgey, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office, told The Alligator more information is not available at this time.

Anyone with information should contact Detective Jeremy York at 352-367-4133 or Crime Stoppers at 352-372-7867.
