With four more days of action at the SEC swimming and diving championships in Auburn, Alabama, the Gators are already racking up medals in the conference title meet.
The women's 200 medley relay team picked up Florida's first medal of the meet with a third-place finish on a time of 1:36.10.
Meanwhile, in the same event, Florida's men's team also notched a bronze medal with a time of 1:24.51.
The Gators' biggest accomplishment of day one's action came when the men's 800 free relay, composed of Kieran Smith, Gerry Quinn, Khader Baqlah and Clark Beach, set an SEC and UF record with a swim of 6:09.91. Smith swam the opening-leg of the relay and posted a split time of 1:30.11 -- good for an SEC Championship record, a UF record and personal best. Smith's split time also sits as the fourth fastest 200 free swim ever. Tuesday night's gold medal marked the eighth consecutive year Florida's men's team has won the event at the conference meet.
