A UF employee was arrested Thursday after police responded to claims she struck a victim with whom she lives with.
The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested 28-year-old Lavarsha Takisha Nattiel for domestic battery, according to the arrest report.
Nattiel works at the UF Building Services Department and has been employed there for five months, according to court records. She and the victim live together and have a 2-year-old child.
According to the arrest report, Nattiel and the victim were arguing at home where she began to call him names. Nattiel is accused of then intentionally striking him on his temple, causing a swollen lump to form.
The victim then left and contacted law enforcement, the report read.
Nattiel had minor red markings on her right hand and stated that she is right-handed, according to the arrest report. Authorities found these markings to be consistent with the victim’s statements and arrested Nattiel for domestic battery.
A no-contact order has been issued as a condition of pretrial release. Nattiel is prohibited to have any direct or indirect contact with the victim and must live in an alternate residence.
UF spokesperson Steve Orlando declined to comment on the arrest as of Sunday evening.
