Law enforcement officers interview witnesses in front of Oaks Mall Thursday night after reports of a robbery in front of Pearle Vision, an eye care store located inside the mall.

Authorities are searching for three young men, one with a tattoo under his eye, who they believe robbed an individual inside Oaks Mall Thursday evening.

Officers with the Gainesville Police Department and Alachua County Sheriff’s Office surrounded the perimeter of the mall on West Newberry Road following reports of the robbery, said Sgt. Frank Kinsey, spokesperson for the sheriff’s office.

The robbery was unarmed, said Sgt. Lonnie Scott, a GPD officer on the scene. He said one individual distracted a victim as multiple accomplices stole cash from the victim’s hand in front of Pearle Vision, an eye care store.

Following the robbery, those involved fled the established perimeter, said Lieutenant Steven Bradford with GPD.

Nobody was held inside the mall, and nobody was injured, Scott said.

The identity of those involved and the amount of money stolen is currently unknown.
