A car crash left three adults dead and a newborn and 4-year-old injured after a Saturday night crash on State Road 24 and Northeast 69th Way.

Just before midnight, an unnamed person in a 2019 Hyundai Elantra was driving west in the eastbound lanes of Waldo Road, or State Road 24, when it collided head-on with a 2007 Toyota Rav4 with the two adults and two children inside, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

Christopher Hesling, 30, and Brittany Trowell Hesling, 31, both of St. Marys, Georgia, and the Hyundai driver died, according to the report. The children were taken to UF Health Shands Hospital. The 4-year-old is critically injured while the 6-month-old sustained minor injuries.

The Hyundai driver’s name, age and gender is still being determined due to the fire damage from the crash, according to the report. As of Sunday, it is unknown if the Hyundai driver consumed alcohol prior to the crash.

In January, seven people, including five children, were killed in a crash along Interstate North 75 of Gainesville while driving to Walt Disney World. Last month, a 20-year-old Santa Fe Student was killed in a tanker truck crash along Northwest 43rd Street.

This is a breaking news story. It will be updated as more information becomes available.
