Police have arrested a man accused of stabbing his friend multiple times Saturday at midnight after an argument.
Narayana Ary, 38, was taken into custody by SWAT, the Negotiation Response Team and the Emergency Services Team after refusing to leave his apartment on the 900 block of Southwest 8th avenue for seven hours following the incident, according to a Gainesville Police release. He is currently in the Alachua County Jail on an attempted murder charge with no bond as of Saturday afternoon.
The victim was found within minutes of the officers’ arrival and taken to the hospital under a trauma alert.
At midnight, law enforcement were parked along the street and toward the back of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority house. The area was quiet with little to no people watching.
“This was a dynamic and lengthy occurrence,” the press release wrote.
UF alerts were sent to students early Saturday morning. More updates and information will be provided Monday, according to the release.
Ary was previously arrested in 2015 after stealing people’s identities to open store credit cards in Broward and Palm Beach County, according to court records.
