Multiple people, including an 18-month-old child, were injured in a car crash in northeast Gainesville Sunday evening.
The crash happened at about 5 p.m. at the intersection of Waldo Road and Northeast Eighth Avenue. Three ambulances were sent to the scene of the crash, said Gainesville Police Sgt. Leah Hayes. The cause of the crash is unknown. Nobody was killed.
According to an alert from The Incident Page Network, a nationwide program that sends alerts on local emergencies, five people were involved in the crash, three of which experienced “physical trauma” including the 18-month-old.An officer at the scene said the child’s injuries were improving. The status of the other patients is unknown.
It is unclear how many cars were involved in the crash. Around 6 p.m., only one car remained on the road. The car, a white four-door Toyota, appeared to have blood stains on the right-hand side as well as a shattered windshield. GPD officers blocked the intersection of, which appeared to have skid marks.
Hayes said there was no update regarding the crash or victims as of Sunday evening. The Alligator called and emailed GPD spokesperson Jorge Campos and Gainesville Fire Rescue. Neither responded by publication.
