Gainesville Police responded to a 911 call from a Gainesville resident who told the dispatcher he “would kill his neighbor,” and “he was going to hit someone with his machete,” Saturday night.
Michael George, 51, was arrested Saturday near the 900 block of Southeast Seventh Avenue. He trespassed on his neighbor’s rental property on more than one occasion, prompting the neighbor to install multiple “no trespassing” signs. George entered the property again Saturday, according to the police report.

A doorbell camera showed George entering his neighbor’s property and using his neighbor’s lumber to prop up a fence. After watching the footage, the neighbor decided to confront George, according to the report.
The confrontation took a turn when George retrieved a 2-foot machete from his house and approached the neighbor in a threatening manner. The neighbor retreated to his vehicle and waited until law enforcement arrived.
George told police he grabbed the first thing he could get his hands on from his house. George was charged with aggravated assault, which is a third-degree felony. He remains in jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond, according to the Alachua County Jail.
