A former Oak View Middle School, located in Newberry, teacher was sentenced Monday to 10 years in prison for child sex trafficking.

Jeffrey Farrell Davis, 36, of Gainesville, must also pay the victim $3,000 and a $5,000 special assessment fine. He will serve 25 years of supervised release, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office news release.

From April to June of 2017, several people were involved in a scheme to make money by selling a 14-year-old for sex, the release said. Advertisements using a false name for the victim were posted on the website Backpage.com under the “escort services” section.

Davis was one of the multiple people who responded to the advertisements, the release said. He paid for sex with the victim on two separate occasions.

In 2017, Davis was charged with child sex trafficking and using a minor to produce child pornography. In March 2018, he pleaded guilty to child sex trafficking.
