A man was arrested Wednesday morning for driving away with a woman’s car last month, police said.
Ronald Eugene Ramos, 56, of Gainesville, was accused of grand theft after a warrant was filed for his arrest, according to a University Police sworn complaint affidavit.
Ramos is accused of stealing a woman’s car at the UF Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute on Hull Road, the complaint said.
The woman called police when the valet couldn’t find her car, according to police.
She was missing her hearing aids, key chain, cash, three gold chain bracelets, sunglasses and credit cards valued at more than $6,400, the report said.
A week later, Florida Highway Patrol troopers found the car at 4331 SW 68th Terrace, which is less than a mile away from Ramos’ residence, according to the report.
Witnesses later identified Ramos in a photo lineup, police said. Ramos told a witness that the car belonged to his ex-wife.
Ramos is charged with grand theft auto and grand theft valued at more than $5,000. He is held at the Alachua County Jail and his bail is not posted.
