A former Zaxby’s employee went on a sports store shopping spree with a stolen credit card, Gainesville Police said.

Eric Alexander Jackson, 35, of Gainesville, was arrested Monday morning after being accused of spending $585.75 on a customer’s credit card that was left Aug. 9 at Zaxby’s, at 3710 SW Archer Road, according to an arrest report.

The customer forgot the card in the store, the report said. An employee gave Jackson the card to put in the business’ safe.

Jackson later went on a shopping spree at Hibbett Sports, at 2619 NW 13th St., totaling $585.75, the report said. He attempted to spend more than $800 at Gamestop, at 2631 NW 13th St., but the card was declined.

Jackson was caught on camera at Hibbett Sports and Gamestop.

The customer called a Zaxby’s manager about the card later that day, but the manager couldn’t find it in the safe, the report said.

Jackson returned to Zaxby’s around 11 p.m. to talk to the manager about an unrelated issue.

Jackson pretended to reach into the safe and find the card, police said.

When called by The Alligator, Jackson denied the allegations against him.

Jackson was charged with credit card fraud and fraud to obtain property.

He was released from the Alachua County Jail Tuesday afternoon on a $20,000 bond.
