The UF women’s tennis team suffered a loss in both the singles and doubles draws in the ITA All-American Championships qualifying rounds Wednesday, as it was bounced from the tournament hosted at Pepperdine University.
Ida Jarlskog’s run in the qualifying singles round came to an end in the evening. She fell to Georgia Tech’s Kenya Jones (6-3, 5-7, 3-6) after upsetting the No. 4 overall seed in the bracket and adding another win to advance to the third round.
The duo of Tsveta Dimitrova and Victoria Emma suited up for the Gators in the qualifying doubles round after a win in the first round. Dimitrova and Emma matched up against the No. 1 seed from Southern California in Angela Kulikov and Rianna Valdes and ultimately lost (8-7) despite coming back from an early deficit to even the score at 6-6.
Emma, however, finished the week with a victory in the back draw singles round, sweeping Emma Wilson of Arizona (6-3, 6-3).
With two losses, the Florida women’s tennis team was sent home early from the ITA All-American Championships.
UF will now travel home from Pacific Palisades, California, and have two full weeks off. Its next action will be the ITA Regional Championships Oct. 18-22 in Atlanta, Georgia.
