Siwatu Ayinde Wright

Siwatu Ayinde Wright never got his doughnuts.

Wright, 45, of Tallahassee, is accused of demanding cash and doughnuts from Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, at 306 NW 13th St., at 1:17 a.m. Friday, according to the arrest report..

A Krispy Kreme store clerk told Gainesville Police a man walked into the store, and when she  asked the man if she could help him, he surprised her.

The man demanded $10 bills, $20 bills and some doughnuts, the report said.

The clerk called over another female employee and told her what happened, and the man made the same demand to the second clerk.

The two women were worried he was armed and went to the back of the store to get a male employee, the report said. The male employee told the man to leave the store and told the clerks to call police.

When police officers arrived, they spotted Wright less than a mile from the store. Officers approached Wright, but never asked him about the doughnut shop. Wright then asked the officers if their approach was about the incident at Krispy Kreme.

Although police hadn’t mentioned Krispy Kreme, Wright told officers he wanted a doughnut from the secret menu and asked for $10 and $20 bills, the report said. While in custody, Wright told police he did not attempt to rob the store.

He was charged with attempted unarmed robbery, the report said.

Wright is being held in Alachua County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
