Gainesville Police arrested a man Tuesday accused of stealing frozen food from Copper Monkey.
Jonathan Keeshan, 37, was charged with burglary to an unoccupied building and grand theft.
Copper Monkey, on 3501 SW 2 Ave., told law enforcement officers on April 22 that a white male and a black male illegally entered a locked, fenced off area by the side of the store, according to the report.
When inside the area, they unlocked the outside freezer and took about $858.69 of frozen food.
A surveillance video from April 21 showed two suspects near the fenced area at 11:55 p.m. who proceeded to unlock the freezer with a key the white male had, according to the report.
They left then came back at 1:52 a.m.. After covering the surveillance camera that faced the fenced-in area and freezer, he stole over $800 of frozen food. The camera was still able to capture Keeshan allegedly committing the crime, according to the report.
After reviewing the video with a GPD officer, witnesses who worked at the store said they believed Keeshan was the white male who was shown taking the food from the freezer, according to the report. They also said Keeshan is a former employee of Copper Monkey and still had the key to the freezer.
When the officer contacted the suspect, Keeshan admitted to committing the burglary and taking the food, according to the report. He also said that he does not know who the black male was in the video.
Keeshan was released by a judge Wednesday morning. The Alligator could not reach Keeshan for comment.
