Update 9:30 a.m. Monday: Gainesville Police identified the man killed and said his killer knew him.

Michael T. Mosely, 43, of Gainesville, was not shot at random, said Officer Ben Tobias, a GPD spokesperson. Police haven't made an arrest, he said.

"Detectives are working solid leads into the identity of the suspects," Tobias said.

A man was fatally shot Sunday in front of a home in northeast Gainesville, Gainesville Police said.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was arguing with at least two other men in a black sedan in front of the house, located near the intersection of Northeast 23rd Avenue and Northeast 15th Street, said GPD spokesperson Officer Ben Tobias. Witnesses called 911 at about 3 p.m. and reported hearing gunshots before seeing the car drive away, leaving the man on the ground, Tobias said.

Police arrived shortly after and found the man in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds, Tobias said. Gainesville Fire Rescue and Alachua County Fire Rescue took the man to UF Health Shands Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Tobias did not know if the man was shot inside the car and pushed out of it, or if he was shot outside of the car. He said police will notify the man’s family and continue to investigate.

Authorities said anyone with information should call GPD’s Detective Bureau at 352-393-7670 or the Combined Communications Center at 352-955-1818.

Correction: This article has been updated to more accurately reflect that the shooting happened in northeast Gainesville and was not near Satchel's.
