A Gainesville man was arrested Wednesday night for violently threatening multiple people and violating his previous felony probation, Gainesville Police said.
Antonio Devonte Foye, 20, was arguing with a group of people at Granada Apartments, located at 1800 NW Fourth St., at about 7 p.m. over social media posts, according to an arrest report. Police said witnesses heard Foye say he would be back to “shoot this s--- out.”
The people Foye was arguing with fled, locked themselves inside their apartment and called the police. Foye returned a short time later with a backpack, which the victims said was where Foye kept his firearm, wrote GPD spokesperson Officer Ben Tobias in an email.
When the officers confronted Foye, Tobias said they found a Hi-Point .380-caliber handgun in his front right pant pocket. Foye was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and aggravated assault, according to the arrest report.
Foye is on felony probation for burglary of an unoccupied structure. His two-year probation began in October 2016, with the condition that he does not have any new law violations, according to the report.
“Our officers did an excellent job taking another gun out of the hands of a criminal,” Tobias said.
Foye was taken to the Alachua County Jail and, as of press time, remains in jail without bond.
