A UF student was arrested early Monday morning and faces a DUI charge after University Police found him on campus sleeping in his car’s driver’s seat, police said.

Officers found Sean Paul Reed, a 20-year-old UF business junior, slumped over his car’s center console at about 5:12 a.m. at the intersection of Gale Lemerand Drive and Archer Road, according to an arrest report.

The car was in drive, but Reed’s foot was rested on the brake, according to the report.

When police woke Reed up and asked him to put the car in park, he tried driving away for a short distance but eventually stopped and opened the door, according to the report.

Reed performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and police also found a small pipe with marijuana residue in the car, according to the report. Reed was then brought to the Alachua County Jail at about 6:30 a.m.

At the jail, Reed refused to provide a breath sample, according to the report.

He was released Tuesday afternoon on his own recognizance and faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI.

Reed declined to comment on the incident without his lawyer present.
