UF students will now get the chance to snack on late-night burgers and fries into the early hours of the morning with a 24/7 Chomp It.
The Graham Hall Chomp It is now open 24/7. The dining service and convenience store has expanded from its previous 9 a.m. to 4 a.m. hours.
Chomp It manager Joshua Turner said there has been a noticeable increase in customer traffic to the location.
“I would say that it’s great for people who have 8:30s, because they can just come down and get breakfast, because we used to open at 9,” the 23-year-old Sante Fe College junior said.
Jill Rodriguez, the marketing program manager of Gator Dining Services, wrote in an email that Gator Dining hired additional staff for the new hours. Eighty percent of the Graham staff are students.
Rodriguez could not release the cost of the expansion or the revenue from expansion.
“By expanding the hours to 24/7, it will now provide an additional dining outlet that is open 24 hours,” she said.
Rodriguez said Newell Hall’s Au Bon Pain is also 24/7. The Library West Starbucks is a limited 24-hour location on campus, with restricted hours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Andrew Prince, a UF computer science freshman who lives in Simpson Hall, said he likes the longer hours.
“It being open 24 hours is really great because of late at night when I come back and I’m hungry, it’s clutch,” the 18-year-old said.
