Gainesville Police arrested a man accused of sexually molesting and exposing himself to a minor early Monday morning.

Tavon Torrell Floyd, 30, was arrested at 1:55 a.m. Monday and faces a charge of lewd or lascivious molestation of a child under 12 years old, according to Alachua County Jail records.

Floyd is dating the mother of the girl — whose name and age was redacted from the report — and currently lives with her and her siblings at 3105 NE 15th St., according to an arrest report.

On Friday, the girl told her godmother that she didn’t want to go home because Floyd had been touching her, according to the report. She also told another child and that child’s mother the same thing Sunday.

The girl’s mother then confronted her about the allegation in front of Floyd. When her mother asked her if Floyd had ever touched her “down there,” she said “yeah” and added that he touched her with a “knife,” referring to the male genital area, according to the report.

During a forensic interview, the girl said Floyd sleeps in her bed and “messes” with her while both of their clothes are off, according to the report.

When interviewers asked whether anything went inside or outside her body, she initially said outside, but she later said it went inside, according to the report.

The girl described the “knife” as “hard” and black, and she stated it “hurt me” when she pointed to the genital region on the male diagram, according to the report.

During the interview, the girl revealed the incident occurred only once, according to the report. Police determined it happened April 8.

“We unfortunately see quite a few cases of molestation,” said GPD spokesperson Officer Ben Tobias.

According to the report, Floyd denied having intercourse with the girl, touching her in a sexual manner and making her perform oral sex on him.

As of Monday, Floyd remains in the Alachua County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
