A female employee of the City of Gainesville was attacked early Wednesday morning while entering the north side of City Hall.

At about 7:30 a.m, a black male grabbed the employee and tried forcing her clothes off, according to a Gainesville Police crime alert.

The employee fought back and screamed for help, which drew the attention of people around City Hall, 200 E. University Ave., according to the alert. The man then ran away.

According to the alert, GPD is currently searching for the suspect and has released photos of a person of interest. In the photos, the man is wearing a button-down shirt, black slacks and white sneakers. The man is between 5’10’’ and 6’1’, according to the alert.
