At least two people were injured Thursday afternoon after a driver crashed into two other cars.

At about 3:45 p.m., Jessica DelCristo, 24, was driving her pregnant friend home from an ultrasound appointment at UF Health Shands Hospital. When she stopped at a light driving east on Southwest Archer Road, a man driving a white Toyota Matrix collided into her.

She said the man later told her he had looked down and looked up, but it was too late. His car pushed her gray Toyota Scion into the car in front of her.

“It was out of nowhere,” she said.

An ambulance took her friend to the hospital for minor injuries along with another driver and her child, DelCristo said.

Gainesville Police Lt. Jaret Weiland said two ambulances took patients to Shands. A fire truck also assisted in cleaning up fluid that had leaked onto the road.

GPD closed down eastbound traffic while the scene was cleared. The right lane was reopened for short periods of time to let traffic pass through as the wrecked cars were towed until 5 p.m., Weiland said.

DelCristo watched as her car was placed on the tow truck and said she had just replaced her headlights and windshield.

“I’m fine,” she said. “I’m just pissed.”
