The Florida Department of Transportation is investigating the ongoing construction of The Standard at Gainesville and its neighboring parking garage.
For the past month, FDOT’s Office of Right of Way has been investigating the northeast corner of The Standard’s parking garage, on the corner of Northwest 13th Street and West University Avenue, which may have been built too far out, said Troy Roberts, an FDOT communication specialist.
Construction of The Standard, a 10-story apartment complex with a rooftop pool, is scheduled to be completed in August 2017.
“We are currently reviewing all of our plans and permits to determine if, firstly, there is a problem and secondly, if there is a problem, what the best course of action is,” Roberts said.
Plans and permits issued by FDOT must be reviewed before any decision is made, Roberts said.
“Our Right of Way office will conduct the investigation in a timely manner and take as much time as they need to ensure that the investigation is done thoroughly and correctly,” Roberts said.
A spokesperson for Landmark Properties, which owns The Standard, said the company is aware of the ongoing investigation.
“We are cooperating with the Department of Transportation as it re- surveys the area,” the spokesperson wrote in an email.
