A 300-pound UF football player was hit in the face Thursday by a woman he had no interest in bedding, Gainesville Police said.
Caleb Brantley, 22, was questioned by police after 20-year-old Chelsea Marie Austin, who stands at 5 foot 4 and 110 pounds, told police someone had hit her in the face at about 2:15 a.m., causing a cut on her lip, according to an incident report. Austin’s friend told police Brantley hit Austin.
Police had just broken up a fight in a crowd of about 25 people in the parking lot of UF Plaza in Midtown after bars had closed, according to the report.
Brantley told an officer he had slept with one of Austin’s friends but refused to sleep with Austin, according to the report. He said Austin hit him in the face, and he pushed her away.
Austin later admitted she hit Brantley and said she was disrespected by him. Brantley did not wish to press charges against Austin. No arrests were made.
On UF’s 2016 football roster, Brantley is listed as a defensive lineman. Brantley is also in the 2017 NFL draft. He said he wouldn’t press charges against Austin.
