For the 48th year, the Santa Fe College Spring Arts Festival will display artwork from more than 200 artists.

The festival will be held April 1 and April 2 and is free and open to the public. It will be located on Northeast First Street in downtown Gainesville, and the festival hours are Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

Raul Villarreal, Santa Fe’s acting coordinator of cultural programs, said he is directing this festival for the first time this year and has a group of artists and musicians coming in from all over the country.

“Last year, one artist really stood out to us, so we chose him to be the poster artist for this year,” Villarreal said.

Erh-Ping Tsai, a Taiwanese artist living in New York, is the poster artist for this year’s festival and will be at the event signing posters and selling his work, Villarreal said.

“It’s a family-oriented event where people get to meet up with their friends, walk around and look at artwork and listen to music,” Villarreal said.

Gabriella Garcia, a 20-year-old UF graphic design sophomore, said she is looking forward to the festival.

“It’s always cool to go to art festivals because you see such innovative art pieces from artists from all over the world,” Garcia said. “I’m excited to see what they have to offer this year.”
