With live music and drinks, SweetBerries Eatery and Frozen Custard celebrated its four-year anniversary Friday.
The restaurant and ice cream shop, located at 505 NW 13th St., recently expanded its hours to include breakfast. The Friday event was the first time owners hosted musicians to play live on the patio, said Jane Osmond, a co-owner of the shop.
“Hopefully we’re gonna have live music out on our patio regularly,” she said.
The restaurant’s recent morning-hour additions include new coffee and pastry items, she said. However, breakfast is limited to weekdays.
Osmond said she sat outside the store on a weekend morning and the streets
were empty, but weekdays have been booming.
Even with a slow start, business for breakfast has started to increase, and coffee has been a customer favorite, she said.
“People are ordering the espresso drinks all day long,” she said.
Andrew Sims, 24, said he thinks the restaurant should change its hours again to include weekend breakfast.
“It’s a better idea to have breakfast on the weekends than have it on the week- days,” the UF forest genetics doctoral student said.
Another addition to the store will be a deck above the patio, Osmond said. But she is still trying to have permits approved by the city.
“We’ll have a much bigger celebration when our deck comes in,” she said.
