About seven months into his stay at the Alachua County Jail, an alleged bank thief was caught Tuesday plotting an escape, the sheriff’s office said.

Under a mattress, inside William Kyle Rossignol’s cell, deputies found holes in a cement block, along with a note detailing the intended jail break, according to an arrest report.
“I’m digging through the concrete ... under my bunk,” the note read, according to the report.
His cellmate told deputies Rossignol kept a piece of metal in his shoes. This, they believe, is what he used to dig through the cement, according to the report.
Rossignol, 31, was booked into the jail July 26 after an arrest on charges of robbing a Wells Fargo and attempting to rob a Campus USA Credit Union at gun point, according to an arrest report and sworn complaint filed in July.
On top of charges of grand theft, burglary and fleeing police, he now faces an additional accusation: attempted escape from a jail.
His current and former cellmates both said they heard him talk about a potential escape, according to the report.
Rossignol told police the holes were there since he moved in and denied writing the notes, according to the report. He said the notes were probably written by someone else in the jail.
He currently remains in jail without bond.
