A WCJB-TV20 news reporter was arrested Tuesday after forcing a woman into sex, Gainesville Police said.

At about 1 a.m. Tuesday, 23-year-old Spencer Harris Allen was at a Gainesville apartment with the woman, described as an acquaintance, and went into a bedroom to talk, according to the report. At some point, Allen closed and locked the door and forced the woman into sexual acts.

During the incident, the woman told Allen no and tried to free herself from him, according to the report. When she was able to get away, she left the room in tears and asked another person at the apartment to make Allen leave.

Allen has since been suspended from WCJB-TV20, an ABC affiliate station in Gainesville, said Kevin Fries, the news director. Fries declined to say whether Allen was suspended without pay.

Police arrested Allen on a charge of sexual battery and took him to the Alachua County Jail, where he was released Wednesday on a $150,000 bond.

As of press time, Allen could not be reached for comment.
