Tickets went on sale Monday for the second-annual Changeville music and entertainment festival.
The two-day downtown festival, to be held in March, will feature a street fair, musical and comedic performances, film screenings and virtual-reality exhibits.
Headlining the musical side the festival will be artists Talib Kweli, Big Freedia, Amy Ray of Indigo Girls, David Bazan, Moon Hooch and Big Sam’s Funky Nation. The lineup was announced in parts on Thursday and Friday.
Multi-venue tickets cost $29. The price for single-venue tickets, which are not yet for sale, has not been determined.
The festival’s mission is to form a connection among the artists and the attendees, with an emphasis on encouraging social change, said Joel Ramos, the festival’s creative director.
“Changeville is combining those personalities and those activists and those workers with the artists who believe in the same ideals and who wanna cause change through their art,” Ramos said.
The festival will take place on Bo Diddley Community Plaza and at High Dive, with other venues to be announced later.
The first Changeville festival, which took place in February, saw more than 3,200 attendees. Nearly half of them were from out of the state, Ramos said. People came from 128 cities and 22 states nationwide.
Omar Howard, an 18-year-old UF business freshman, said he found out about Changeville through Swamp Records.
“I think what I’m most excited about is the fact that some pretty well-known names are coming to Gainesville, and that’s great exposure for future big artists to come and perform for us,” Howard said.
