The No. 7 Florida volleyball team made short work of Saturday’s double header in East Lansing, Michigan.

Florida (3-1) defeated Central Michigan (1-3) and Morgan State (0-5) in straight sets.

The Gators’ day began early as they squared off against Central Michigan at 10 a.m.

But the early morning start did little to deter them.

Florida swept Central Michigan 3-0 to capture its first game of the Spartan Invitational, playing off of a hot serving hand for most of the day.

Against the Chippewas, the Gators recorded nine service aces, including three by freshman Chanelle Hargreaves and two by redshirt sophomore Lindsey Rogers.

For the team’s trio of Rhamat Alhassan, Alex Holston and Carli Snyder, it was more of the same.

Snyder notched a team-high 14 kills against the Chippewas.

Alhassan and Holston tallied eight kills apiece in the match.

Florida held Central Michigan to just a .024 hitting percentage.

Morgan State didn’t fare much better in a match where many of Florida’s newcomers earned their first starts, including freshmen Rachael Kramer and Cheyenne Huskey.

Kramer, who at 6-foot-8 is the tallest player in program history, had five kills between the three sets, hitting 100-percent. She also had three total blocks.

Snyder continued her hot play into the match against Morgan State.

The junior All-American outside hitter punched in 14 kills to go along with a .609 hitting percentage.

“The constant really continues to be Carli Snyder,” UF coach Mary Wise said in a release. “She is playing at such a high level and continued right where she left off last weekend.”

Morgyn Greer also stepped up against the Bears.

The freshman outside hitter drilled a career-high nine kills to only one error in the match.

And even with team captain Alhassan sitting out the match, Morgan State had no answer for the Gators’ attack.

Morgan State could only muster up 19 kills to Florida’s 44.

In the process, the Bears recorded 18 attack errors and compiled only a .013 hitting percentage, Florida’s lowest opponent average on the season.

“This was a great opportunity,” Wise said, “to let what we hope will be our strength, to be our strength — the depth.”

The Gators return to action today as they take on Michigan State (3-0) at 3:30 p.m. as part of the final game of the Spartan Invitational.
