Students can now access medical records from UF’s Student Health Care Center through a new online system.
The new medical system, Epic, allows users to review results, refill prescriptions, review health summaries, message doctors and schedule appointments on their computer.
The SHCC began upgrading the system four months ago, wrote Catherine Seemann, the SHCC communications coordinator, in an email. The online appointment registration opened this month, she said.
New patients should call the SHCC for their first appointment before they can use the online system at the mychart.shands.org website. Between 8-percent and 14-percent of patients used the previous online appointment scheduling system, Seemann said. She didn’t say how much it cost.
Isabel Wasilewski, a UF psychology sophomore, said she’s glad the SHCC updated the online system because she found the old one hard to use.
“The old system was too confusing,” the 19-year-old said. “I usually opt to make an in-person appointment.”
Wasilewski said she appreciates the upgrade because it has everything in one place.
“As a college student, immediacy and efficiency are my favorite things, so everything digitized is preferred,” Wasilewski said. “It also helps me from losing a piece of paper.”
