During Tuesday’s short Student Senate meeting, three students were approved for positions on executive committees.
The academic assessments committee, the student petitions committee and the transportation and parking committee each gained a new member nominated by UF Student Body President Susan Webster. Senators didn’t vote on any bills because none were submitted to the Judiciary Committee for review, said Ben Weiner, the chairman of the committee.
Camden Anderson, a UF finance junior, was appointed to the academic assessments committee. He is also the executive secretary of academic affairs, a position in which he communicates between Webster and UF’s associate deans, the 20-year-old said.
The committee he’s joining reviews academic curricula and instructional programs, he said. Anderson, who applied online at the end of October, said he wasn’t aware of what his specific role on the committee will be.
“I haven’t actually been informed of my technical duties,” he said.
Anderson said he applied to the committee because of its relevance to his other position.
“I’m really excited to be on the committee,” he said. “I believe it will really help me in my role as executive secretary.”
TJ Pyche was approved for the student petitions committee, and Nathaniel Reiff was appointed to the transportation and parking committee.
Senate will not meet next week due to elections, which are Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
