UF President Kent Fuchs and his wife are asking students to help design their holiday card.
He and his wife, Linda, are holding the President’s Holiday Greeting Card Contest for the first time. Students can submit one original piece of artwork for the contest, which began Sept. 6 and will run through Oct. 3, Fuchs said.
Last year, Fuchs and his wife sent out an e-card video to the UF community, he said. For this year’s e-card, they wanted to send out something made by students.
“My wife and I are looking for something festive and celebratory — and something in some sense evocative of UF and not necessarily an image, but who we are as a school,” Fuchs said.
The winner will receive $500 and the runner-up will receive $250, he said. The money will come from the Fuchs’ personal funds. Submissions can be sent to president-card@ufl.edu.
Winners will be announced Nov. 1 on the president’s website and official social media accounts.
Catherine Munn, an 18-year-old UF art freshman, said, while she isn’t sure she’ll enter, it’s a great opportunity for students to showcase their work.
“I think it sounds like a very cute idea,” she said. “It sounds like something that graphic design majors or other digital artists would be interested in.”
