While Antonio Callaway is questionable for Saturday’s game against North Texas, several other players will not play.
The list starts on the offensive line with right guard Tyler Jordan, who needs to have some “work done” on his eye, coach Jim McElwain said. Jordan previously broke his orbital bone — one of the bones surrounding the eye — and McElwain said this setback relates to that.
He added that Jordan will be out for a couple of weeks and hinted at redshirt freshman Richerd Desir-Jones as a possible replacement.
Another player who will miss a substantial amount of time is true freshman linebacker Jeremiah Moon, who injured his thumb and will require surgery. He was listed as senior Daniel McMillian’s backup at the strong-side linebacker spot on Florida’s last depth chart.
“He was doing a heck of a job for us,” McElwain said, “not only at the ‘backer spot but also on special teams. He did a great job.”
Without Moon, backing up McMillian could fall to redshirt freshman Rayshad Jackson, walk-on redshirt junior Cristian Garcia or true freshman Vosean Joseph. Moon’s timetable for return is not known.
Fellow true freshman Tyrie Cleveland, who hasn’t played in a college game yet, will also be out after re-aggravating a hamstring injury that has nagged him since arriving in Gainesville.
The former four-star wide out’s target return date is also unknown.
