Gainesville is going to get a little bit funnier Friday night when comedian Eric André stops into town to play two shows at the High Dive.
There will be an early show and a late show, with doors opening at 7 p.m. for the 8:30 p.m. show and at 10:30 p.m. for the 11:30 p.m. show. André is stopping in Gainesville as part of his Florida Tour, which also includes shows in West Palm Beach, Miami, Tampa and Orlando.
In addition to the stand-up comedy routine, the late show will include a look at the season premiere of André’s “The Eric Andre Show” on Adult Swim. Local comedian Heather Shaw will serve as his opening act for both shows.
André, who was born in Boca Raton, Florida, is the creator and host of the “The Eric Andre Show,” a talk-show parody series that first premiered in 2012.
In the last few years, he has appeared across TV and film: He’s had roles in popular movies like “The Internship” and “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping,” as well as playing recurring characters on “2 Broke Girls,” “Don’t Trust the B---- in Apartment 23” and “Man Seeking Woman,” according to his IMDb page.
For Friday’s shows, attendees are invited to enjoy High Dive’s beer garden, and all guests must be at least 18, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
As of press time, tickets for both shows are sold out.
High Dive is hosting a number of comedians in the coming weeks, including former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Brooks Wheelan on Sept. 15 and Robert Kelly from FX’s “Louie” on Oct. 12.
