UF coach Jim McElwain talks with his team following the Orange & Blue Debut on April 8, 2016, at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

Freshmen receivers Tyrie Cleveland and Rick Wells are suspended for Florida’s season opener against Massachusetts on Saturday, coach Jim McElwain announced on Monday.

Both Cleveland and Wells were arrested on July 18 on charges of criminal mischief and for firing a missile at a dwelling after police said they shot BB guns at a UF residence hall.

“We’ve had some guys that obviously made some choices not to play in this game,” McElwain said.

Cleveland and Wells will join starting cornerback Jalen Tabor and tight end C’yontai Lewis, who are also suspended for Saturday’s game. McElwain announced Tabor’s and Lewis’ suspensions on Aug. 17 after the two reportedly fought during a preseason practice.

McElwain also said that a senior will be suspended for UF’s season opener but didn’t specify which one.

The coach added that sophomore receiver Antonio Callaway, who was suspended from the team in the spring after violating UF’s student code of conduct, will be available to play in Florida’s season opener.

Callaway was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in December but was found not responsible in a Title IX hearing, the results of which were issued on Aug. 12.
