One of Florida gymnastics’ most celebrated athletes added another award to her collegiate career.
Bridget Sloan was named the 2016 Southeastern Conference Female Athlete of the Year, the SEC announced Thursday.
Sloan, who also received the Honda Award as the top collegiate gymnast of 2016, is the third Gator in the last three years to be recognized as the SEC Female Athlete of the Year.
Lauren Haeger (2015) and Hannah Rogers (2014) received the award as members of UF’s softball team.
“She was a great competitor and leader this season,” UF gymnastics coach Jenny Rowland said of Sloan in a release.” Bridget has certainly left her mark on this program and the SEC.”
Sloan captured a UF-record six NCAA event titles during her four-year collegiate career, and was the only gymnast to be named an All-America First Team member in each of the five events at the 2016 NCAA Championships.
Sloan also holds the Florida record in career All-Around wins (27), event titles (95) and perfect 10.0 scores (8).
