The Florida swimming and diving team received four honors from the Southeastern Conference on Wednesday.
Sophomore Caeleb Dressel was named the SEC Men’s Swimmer of the Year and senior Kahlia Warner was named SEC Women’s Diver of Year. In addition, head coach Gregg Troy was named the SEC Men’s Coach of the Year and diving coach Dale Schultz was named SEC Women’s Diving Coach of the Year.
Dressel entered the national spotlight after claiming two individual national titles while also setting multiple swimming records in both the 50-yard freestyle (18.20 seconds) and 100-yard freestyle (40.46) at the NCAA Championships in March.
Meanwhile, Warner captured two individual SEC championships in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives at the SEC Championships in February, along with two All-America honors at the NCAA Championships.
Troy, who completed his 18th season as the UF men’s swim coach, helped guide the No. 3-ranked Gators to their fourth-consecutive and 37th overall SEC title, as well as a third-place finish at the NCAAs.
Schultz helped lead Warner and the UF women’s team to 19 total victories on the diving boards this season, including two SEC championships.
Twenty-one Florida swimmers will spend the next three months training for the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and 13 will be competing for a spot on the U.S. swim team at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska, beginning June 26.
