Jacuzzi Boys, a garage rock ’n’ roll band from Miami, will be performing at High Dive on Sunday.
The band features Gabriel Alcala on guitar and vocals, Diego Monasterios on drums and Danny Gonzales on bass.
Jacuzzi Boys formed in 2007 and signed onto Florida-based indie label Floridas Dying Records. After the Jacuzzi Boys’ debut full-length album, “No Seasons,” was released in 2009, the band gained popularity and a prominent fan: Iggy Pop.
With the Jacuzzi Boys on the rise, it wasn’t long before the band released more albums, with “Glazin’” in 2011 and the song “Bricks or Coconuts” appearing in Seth Rogen’s 2011 movie, “50/50.”
Fans and newcomers can expect an exciting show, as the group is known for its captivating live performances.
Its top album, “Glazin,’” is a fan favorite.
“Glazin’ is my favorite song,” said Conner Anderson, a Jacuzzi Boys fan. “I can’t wait to see them Sunday.”
In addition to the Jacuzzi Boys, there will also be performances by local bands The Hails, Clarity and Dunies.
“I think that a lot of people will enjoy coming out to watch the show,” said Zach Levy, the drummer for The Hails. “The atmosphere of live shows are great, and people are going to love it.”
The Hails is a Gainesville band that was formed in September 2015 and is comprised of four UF students.
“The Jacuzzi Boys will be one of the biggest bands we have played with,” said Robbie Kingsley, the lead singer of The Hails. “It’ll be cool to meet the Jacuzzi Boys and learn a little from them.”
Jacuzzi Boys’ music is considered garage-rock, but it also includes surfer-rock.
“Our music really matches up well with Jacuzzi Boys,” said Richie Caudill, the rhythm guitarist and backup vocalist for the Dunies. “It’s really exciting to be playing with them.”
Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. The doors for the show open at 8 p.m., and the show starts at 8:30 p.m. at High Dive, located at 210 SW Second Ave.
