After two first-place finishes on Friday, the Gators came out on Day 2 of the Black & Gold Challenge in Orlando looking to complete a successful weekend of competition on Saturday.

Lloydricia Cameron (50.79 meters) and Jontavia Dykes (50.32 meters) set the tone early, placing second and fourth, respectively, in the women’s discus throw, the first event of the day for the Gators.

“I thought Jontavia Dykes had a good weekend — big PR for her in the discus,” Florida coach Mike Holloway said in a release. “Our talk and focus has just been on going out and getting better, and I feel like everyone who put the uniform on this weekend did that.”

Christopher Olson (46.87 meters) then went on to place third in the same event on the men’s side.

Cameron also went on to set a personal record in the shot put with a toss of 16.07 meters. The toss gave her second place in the event and was good enough for the No. 8 mark all-time in Florida’s outdoor top-10.

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Devin McDermott represented the women’s team, earning first place with a time of 10:51.65.

On the men’s side, Mark Mutz (9:46.44) and Bryce Statham (9:52.25) finished in first and second place, respectively.

In the women’s 1,500-meter run, Macy Huskey (4:34.02), Amber Johnson (4:34.24) and Julie Wollrath (4:54.27) placed fourth, fifth and 15th, respectively.

For the men, Carlos Miranda (3:54.98) took first, while teammates Mac Reynolds (3.55.64) and Charles Chambers (4:11.68) placed third and seventh, respectively.

The 800-meter dash was the last event of the day for the Gators. Jack Guyton (1:51.25), Jack Beitter (1:51.33) and Magnus Petterson (1:51:46)  placed fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively, while Jack Rogers (1:53:00) placed ninth.

Next, the Gators head back to Gainesville to prepare for trips to Los Angeles for the Trojan Invitational and Raleigh, North Carolina, for the Raleigh Relays.
